Dr. Z for Chrome privacy policy
Dr. Z for Chrome is a browser extension for AristAI Mapper. It shows what needs you in Mapper, shows your Mapper chat in Chrome's side panel, sends pages you choose to Mapper, and opens or uses web pages for requests you make in Mapper after you allow each site. This policy explains what the extension handles and where it goes.
What the extension collects
| Data | When | Where it is kept or sent |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in tokens for your Mapper account (a device token, a 90-day refresh token and 15-minute access tokens) | When you link this browser from Mapper, Settings, Devices | Kept in the extension's local storage in Chrome; sent only to your Mapper server |
| A device name such as "Chrome on macOS" | When you link this browser | Sent to your Mapper server so you can see the browser in Settings, Devices |
| The text, title and address of a web page | Only when you press Ask about this page, Add this page or Add to Mapper with Dr. Z, or when you allow Dr. Z to open a page for a request you made | Sent only to your Mapper server |
| PDF files up to 7 MB | Only when you add a PDF page as course materials or evidence | Sent only to your Mapper server |
| Screenshots of Dr. Z's own tab | Only while Dr. Z works in its own tab on sites you allowed for that request | Sent only to your Mapper server |
| Your settings: Pause, whether Dr. Z shows on pages, the sites where you hid it and where you moved it | When you change them | Kept in the extension's local storage in Chrome only |
The extension does not collect your browsing history, your keystrokes or clicks, your passwords, payment details or your location. The small Dr. Z on your pages reads nothing on the page; it only notes the site name so it can stay hidden where you hid it, and that stays in Chrome. Dr. Z never types passwords or payment details.
Where it is sent
Only to your Mapper server, which is always at an aristai.io address (for example mapper-cn.aristai.io), over HTTPS. The Chat tab shows your Mapper page in the side panel, and that page is part of the same Mapper server. Mapper handles this data under your school's agreement with AristAI and the Mapper privacy terms.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers, or use it for advertising.
- We do not use it for anything other than the features described here, or to decide creditworthiness or lending.
Your choices
- Dr. Z asks before it opens or uses any site you have not set to Always allow. You can say Not allow.
- Pause, in the side panel's Settings or on the options page, stops Dr. Z from opening pages in this browser. Stop Dr. Z now ends any tab it is using.
- You can hide Dr. Z on any site or everywhere, and remove Chrome's access to sites at any time in Chrome's extension settings.
- Sites you set to Always allow are listed in Mapper, Settings, Devices, with Stop allowing.
Keeping and deleting data
- Removing this browser in Mapper, Settings, Devices signs it out at once: its tokens stop working and the extension clears them the next time it checks in.
- Uninstalling the extension removes everything it kept in Chrome.
- Pages, files and screenshots sent to Mapper are kept in your school's Mapper account like other Mapper content. To have them deleted, ask your Mapper administrator or write to us.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update this page and its effective date.
